"And the sun pours down like honey on our lady of the harbour..."
She's not the Suzanne of Leonard Cohen but is, instead, an old wooden lobster boat resting at the entrance to the Robichaud wharf. The following images were captured over several visits between 2013 and 2016. Heavy snows during the winter of 2014 or 2015 destroyed the wheelhouse. Restoration work was started around 2016. I ended the project that year - a fresh coat of paint hides both blemishes and character.
My goal was never to capture the boat as a whole, even before the loss of the wheelhouse. Instead, I was always looking for the colours, the oranges and the blues, and the shapes and form, in both the boat and the sky.
