I left mid-morning, driving along the coast in conditions that kept most at home. The temperature hovered around freezing, but the wind chill made it feel much colder. It rained. It snowed. The roads were... passable... mostly. The sky was bored and lifeless, much like my mood. There were better days for photography.
I first went to Cape Tormentine, and promptly left without getting out of the car. However, I returned to the wharf and fired off a few frames. I didn't want to, but I convinced myself only a complete dumbass would travel that far in bad weather and over bad roads and not take a single, bloody photo.
The scene was almost empty except for the breakwater and the thin open lead in the harbour ice. It was as if someone took a blank canvas and, after just a couple of brushstrokes, announced the painting complete and walked away. Muted tones and simple shapes are what drew my eye, when I bothered to look.
The image is printed on acid and lignin-free cotton rag paper using archival pigment inks.
Unframed copies are sold without mat or backing boards. Overall paper size is approximately 1 inch larger on all sides, providing flexibility for mat and framing options.
Framed copies are sold with a one inch black gallery frame. All mat and backing materials are archival quality. The mat opening is slightly larger than the image, leaving the edition number and artist's signature visible. The print is mounted behind UV-protected conservation glass.
