COVID-19 Update: I am limiting the number of students to whom I will offer in-person lessons at any one time. This is to minimize contact between different social bubbles as much as possible to help limit the spread of COVID-19.

* As of March 2021, private lessons are now available using Zoom and Microsoft Teams. *

Private lessons are geared toward those who:

  • prefer to learn in an informal, personal, and one-on-one setting;
  • are unable to commit to fixed schedules;
  • have previously taken a photo course and are looking for a refresher;
  • or, have specific needs they wish to address.

Lessons can usually be arranged for any time of day (mornings, afternoons, and evenings), any day of the week (including weekends). Students who purchase 6 hours or more of lessons do not have to commit to a specific time slot or day of the week in advance, nor is there a time limit for completion. This flexibility allows students to arrange the lessons around their work, family, and other commitments without having to worry about missing a session due to changes in their own schedules.

Lessons are normally held at the student's home (additional costs may apply for travel outside of the Greater Moncton area). I find this provides a more comfortable learning environment for the student and makes it easier on those with an already hectic day. Lessons can also be given "in the field" for more practical, hands-on instruction.

Starting in March 2021, lessons may also be held via Zoom or Microsoft Teams video conferencing software.

For beginners, topics may include (subject to time constraints):

  • camera care;
  • basic camera operation with an overview of the shooting modes;
  • an introduction to exposure and metering;
  • white balance;
  • focus modes and drives;
  • memory cards;
  • file formats;
  • file transfer and storage.

For intermediate photographers, topics may include those already listed for beginners, either as a review or to provide more in-depth coverage where required. Intermediate photographers may also request additional or specialized topics to meet their own interests or needs.

Private lessons can be purchased in 3, 6, 8, or 12-hour blocks. Three-hour blocks must be taken in a single session. Six, eight, or twelve-hour blocks can be broken down into smaller sessions (minimum of 2-hours) over multiple days. Private lessons are intended for individuals: however, I am willing to accomodate small groups (a maximum of four people) in certain circumstances.

Pricing (per person) is as follows:

  • 3-Hours - $80
  • 6-Hours - $140
  • 8-Hours - $180
  • 12-Hours - $240

Gift certificates are available. To purchase a gift certificate, either contact me via email after placing your order or leave a note in the "Instructions to Seller" area during the PayPal checkout process.
