Spring for the season, Blue for the palette, and Torment for Cape Tormentine. Torment also refers to the struggle between man and nature, to the contrast between the man-made and the natural, and to the clash of seasons (denoted by the last vestiges of harbour ice clinging to the breakwater). More importantly, it refers to the artist who struggles to define his vision, narrow his focus, and develop a style that embodies his creativity, his art, and his self.
Stylistically, Spring Torment Blue epitomizes the type of image I prefer to create: atypical subject; negative space; simple, uncluttered, monochromatic background; and, a general sense of emptiness or loneliness.
The image is printed on acid and lignin-free cotton rag paper using archival pigment inks.
Unframed copies are sold without mat or backing boards. Overall paper size is approximately 1 inch larger on all sides, providing flexibility for mat and framing options.
Framed copies are sold with a one inch black gallery frame. All mat and backing materials are archival quality. The mat opening is slightly larger than the image, leaving the edition number and artist's signature visible. The print is mounted behind UV-protected conservation glass.
