The 2011 IAFF Day of Remembrance ⁄ Service commémoratif was held at Victoria Park, Moncton, New Brunswick, on 11 September 2011.
The purpose of the service was two-fold: to honour the firefighters and other first responders who have given the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty; and to commemorate the 10th anniversary of the terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center and Pentagon. The City of Moncton was chosen to host the New Brunswick service because of the role it played in accepting a number of the flights that were diverted after American airspace was closed following the attacks of 11 September 2001.
I was tasked by the New Brunswick Department of Public Safety to capture this event on their behalf. My duties included both general photographs of the overall ceremony as well as images of the New Brunswick Minister of Public Safety, the Honourable Robert Trevors, during his speech and throughout the service.
